We’re pleased to announce the release of AesirX CMP for WordPress v1.4.0, introducing full support for Global Privacy Control (GPC) – a privacy signal that allows users to opt out of tracking automatically via their browser settings.
With this release, AesirX Consent Management Platform (CMP) strengthens its position as a first-party, privacy-first consent management solution, offering compliance not only with GDPR, ePrivacy Directive, and CCPA/CPRA, but now also with GPC, further expanding its global regulatory coverage.

What’s New in v1.4.0?
Automatic GPC Signal Detection and Opt-Out
Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and its amendment, the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), businesses are required to honor GPC signals as a valid opt-out of the sale or sharing of personal information.
AesirX CMP now automatically detects if a visitor’s browser sends a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal. If detected, all non-essential tracking is automatically rejected without requiring any user interaction.
This delivers immediate compliance with privacy frameworks like CCPA/CPRA that recognize the GPC signal as a valid opt-out mechanism.
How it works:
- AesirX CMP checks for the GPC signal via the browser’s navigator.globalPrivacyControl property.
- If the signal is present, the CMP enforces an automatic opt-out by rejecting all non-essential cookies and trackers.
- The user interface updates dynamically to reflect the opt-out state.

Integration with IAB's U.S. Privacy (USP) API
To enable full compliance with CCPA/CPRA, AesirX CMP now also updates the IAB USP API when a GPC signal is detected.
Through this integration:
- The GPC opt-out is reflected across ad tech platforms using the IAB framework.
- Websites remain compliant with the latest U.S. privacy regulations.
New "GPC Compliance" Settings Page
AesirX CMP v1.4.0 introduces a dedicated GPC Compliance section in the WordPress admin panel, making it easy for site owners to manage their GPC implementation.
The settings page includes:
- Option to enable or disable GPC support.
- A dynamically generated gpc.json file containing GPC status and your site’s privacy policy link.
- A Download button to retrieve the gpc.json file.
- Step-by-step manual upload instructions to place the file under /.well-known/gpc.json on your server.
- A pre-written section to help you update your Privacy Policy to reflect GPC compliance.
This approach maintains compatibility across all WordPress hosting environments, without relying on server-specific configuration like .htaccess rules.

Why GPC Matters
The Global Privacy Control initiative is gaining momentum across jurisdictions and is increasingly being recognized as a valid mechanism for expressing user privacy choices. Major browsers and browser extensions now support it, and several regulatory bodies – especially in the United States – require websites to honor GPC signals as part of their compliance obligations.
Specifically, the California Attorney General and California Privacy Protection Agency (CPPA) have both affirmed that under CCPA/CPRA, honoring GPC signals is mandatory for covered businesses.
By adding GPC support, AesirX Consent Management Platform allows your WordPress website to respect these privacy choices automatically, reducing compliance risk while improving user trust.
Upcoming Features
After v1.4.0’s release, our roadmap continues with key enhancements:
- Improved Consent Logging & Compliance Monitoring
A complete backend and frontend logging system will be introduced to provide full visibility into consent actions, including GPC-based opt-outs. This will support audit readiness and help administrators demonstrate compliance. - Geo-Based Consent Model Handling
Dynamically apply Opt-In (for GDPR) or Opt-Out (for CCPA) consent models based on a user’s browser language and time zone – without relying on third-party geo-location APIs. - Advanced Analytics & Region-Based Consent Trends
Reporting tools for consent behavior by region, category, and GPC signal detection are in development.
