AesirX Features: Geo-Handling

Why Geo-Handling Matters

Graphic Image

Privacy requirements differ by jurisdiction, yet most websites still configure consent manually or rely on IP-based location services that are unreliable, expensive, or blocked by privacy tools. IP-based geo detection is also unsuitable for consent decisions because GDPR and the ePrivacy Directive 5(3) do not treat IP lookups as a lawful way to decide a visitor’s regulatory framework. VPNs, proxies, device masking, and regional language variations often cause sites to misapply consent rules, creating inconsistent data collection and unnecessary operational effort.

Geo-Handling eliminates this problem. AesirX uses the visitor’s browser language, time zone, and rule combinations to determine which model to apply. EU language and European time zones can map to Opt-In automatically, while U.S. time zones or languages can follow Opt-Out logic. No scripts to maintain, no regional forks, and no dependency on IP resolution. The interface updates instantly, reflecting the assigned mode, and administrators can allow or restrict overrides where required.

For organisations managing multiple markets or multilingual sites, this creates repeatable deployments, accurate behaviour across regions, and a single configuration surface. Consent becomes an automated, jurisdiction-aware system rather than a manual guessing game, dramatically reducing configuration time and implementation risk.

Assigns consent mode

Geo-Handling matches browser language and time zone against rule conditions to determine which mode to apply. AesirX maps visitors to Opt-In or Opt-Out automatically, without relying on IP lookups.

Browser language and time zone offer more reliable signals for regional consent modes than IP-based lookups, which can be affected by VPNs and proxies.

AesirX does not use IP-based geo detection because GDPR and ePrivacy Directive 5(3) do not permit IP lookups as a lawful basis for assigning consent modes.

Rule logic supports AND/OR combinations, enabling nuanced models such as EU language + European time zone triggering Opt-In, while U.S. signals activate Opt-Out.

Modals display in the user’s own language, making consent choices understandable and improving the quality of informed decisions.

Overrides can be enabled for testing or edge cases, allowing teams to correct behaviour without editing deployment logic.

Note that AI Auto-Blocking works for plugins and scripts loaded through WordPress’ standard architecture. Scripts hardcoded in theme files are not detected and must be added to blocking rules manually

People Also Ask

Geo-Handling evaluates browser language and time zone against rules you define. AesirX then applies Opt-In or Opt-Out without maintaining separate region-specific builds.

It removes the need to configure privacy models per site or per region. Once rules are set, AesirX applies them automatically across deployments.

Yes. AesirX avoids IP-based geo detection because GDPR and the ePrivacy Directive 5(3) do not consider IP lookups compliant for assigning consent modes. Instead, browser language and time zone provide a more reliable, privacy-respecting basis.

Yes. Rules can combine AND/OR logic, allowing one condition to represent many jurisdictions, languages, or time zones without duplicating logic.

Rules only need adjusting once. AesirX extends the same consent logic to every new region, avoiding repeated builds, audits, or tag changes.
