Step 1: Install and Activate AesirX CMP

1. Download from: https://github.com/aesirxio/wordpress-consent-plugin/releases/download/1.9.0/plg_aesirx_consent.zip 
2. Then go to WP admin > Add Plugin > Upload Plugin > Choose file > Choose the package downloaded > Install Now.

Note: The banner loads client-side from your first-party domain (per compliance), and no third-party trackers are allowed to fire before consent is provided (as mandated under ePrivacy Directive 5(3) and GDPR).

Step 2: Access the Consent Modal Settings

This is where you can change the text that appears in your cookie banner, including headlines and descriptions.

1. Click Consent Modal in the sidebar menu.
2. Edit the content:

a. Customize ‘Consent Management’ Text

b. Customize ‘Details’ Text

Use this section to give users a deeper explanation of their privacy choices. Outline what each option means (Reject, Consent, Decentralized Consent) and the benefits or trade-offs of each, so users can make an informed decision. Write in plain, user-friendly language. Focus on clarity, not legal terms. Show users what they gain or lose with each option to support genuine, informed consent.

Step 3: Understand What Happens Based on User Choices

1. Reject: No cookies or trackers are loaded; only essential functionality is allowed. Consent is logged as rejected.
2. Consent: All approved categories (analytics, marketing, etc.) activate their scripts. Consent is logged.
3. Customize: Users can choose exactly which categories of data collection and tracking they consent to, such as Essential or Analytics.
4. Decentralized Consent (optional):
   1. If the Decentralized Consent template is chosen, the user connects a Web3 wallet and signs a consent transaction.
   2. Consent can be revoked on-site or from the AesirX dApp.
   3. Shield of Privacy adds pseudonymization and audit trail compliance.

Note: Always configure your consent logic correctly using the AesirX CMP settings to prevent any data loading before consent. This is critical for compliance with GDPR and Article 5(3) of the ePrivacy Directive.

3. For more granular control, use custom CSS. The modal can be targeted via standard class names like .aesirx-consent-modal or .aesirx-consent-button.
4. For advanced users: Additional styling can be applied via the theme’s CSS file or a child theme.

Step 5: Using AI Privacy Advisor to Update Text

You can use AI-generated text in your Consent Modal based on real scan data from your website. This helps provide a consent message tailored to the specific technologies and data flows detected.

1. Click AI Privacy Advisor in the Sidebar Menu.
2. Click on the Generate button
3. Scroll down to the Consent Request section.
4. Use the Copy icon to copy the generated text.
5. Navigate back to the Consent Modal and paste the text where needed.

Note: Always review and adjust the AI content to make sure it reflects your actual data practices before publishing.
